IPL- the Surprise Box

With the invention of this genre of cricket, many surprises ht499as hit the cricketing fans. Watching the semi’s between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, I've  inferred a lot. Primarily, IPL has given the much  needed exposures to potential domestic players and this year it’s the 19 year MK Pandey from the RCB, the only Indian to score a century against the mighty finalist Deccan Chargers. He turned out to be the key to their victory in the semi-finals, for his temperament, timing and footwork  turned out to be a nightmare for the opponents.

S

urprisingly, this season has also disproved yet another baseless  speculation that IPL t501was meant for fresh legs and seniors should give way to the young blooded hitters, as they would hardly make their presence felt. Dravid has proved his caliber by playing several crucial innings for the season and has flawlessly answered his team owner, that cricket’s his cup of tea and no one can dare to snatch it away from him. With his excellent  knock of 48 runs in the semis, Dravid is hailing high as a front-runner for his team. The game is not only about hitting DLF maximums, but timing and patience has assured them a win. Kudos to Rahul Dravid, for  standing so firm throughout. With Kumble being the captain of the ship, along with hitters like Pandey, Kohli, Utthapa, Kallis, Boucher & Taylor… the Royal Challengers could still win the challenge tomorrow to lift the much coveted trophy. Looking forward to more surprises in the finals….

To utter surprise, the finalists for IPL ‘09 were the underdogdcvsrcbs of ‘08. Retired Gilly has rejuvenated his aggression thus lifting his team up to the first  position from last years 8th, alongside Royal Challengers clearing the semis to get into the finals, finished 7th last year.  The pre-IPL predictions has failed drastically, apparently it seemed that the Mumbai Indians are the deserving ones, but then they also got outplayed in a bizarre fashion.  It turned out to be a battle between two ol’men, Gilly & Kumble. Awaiting the action packed finale of the season 2.
